Microsoft Office System is a non-free commercial office suite and a series collection of computer programs made by Microsoft. These programs are created for all users. There are different versions of the software for home users and for business users. Some versions may offer more programs, and some versions cost less than others. The collection of applications included Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher where these applications are most apply, especially by the students and business users for administration, communicating and business purpose. Student like me always need it for document writing, PowerPoint presentation, assignment performing and data storage.
Since 1989, Microsoft had been work hard to design and introduced many different version of Microsoft Office to the market so that its software can full fill all the users need. As we all know, when there is a new release of Microsoft Office, its content sure will upgrade with more and more enhancement features. Due to the Microsoft’s creativity and all its effort, over the years Office has become a very mature product which has become the industry standard. Here are the some versions of Microsoft Office that we are familiar with:
The Microsoft Office for Windows- started in October 1990. It can be considered as the 1st ‘ancestor’ among the others Microsoft Office software.
Microsoft Office 95- launch in August 1995. It was designed as a fully 32- bit version so that can ‘match’ with the Window 95. It is available in 2 version which are the Office 95 standard and Office 95 professional.
Microsoft Office 97- upgraded with more features and improvement. Start to introduce the command bars, Natural Language System and grammar checking. It was the 1st version of office that offered Office Assistant.
Microsoft Office 2000- introduce with adaptive menus, new security feature, built in with digital signature as to minimise the threat of macro viruses. It was the last version that supported Windows 95.
Microsoft XP- released together with Windows XP. It was upgraded with more enhancements and successfully took over Microsoft Office 2000. It had designed with the Safe Mode feature, smart tag, integrated voice command, text dictation capabilities as well as handwriting recognition. It was the 1st version that requires Product Activation as the anti-piracy measure where this topic had become the hottest widespread controversy.
Microsoft Office 2007- released in year 2007. Every time when a new version of Microsoft Office is created, its features will be upgraded with more advanced, so does Microsoft Office 2007. Microsoft Office 2010-- the main ‘character’ in my topic for today. Microsoft Office 2010 was finalized on 15th April 2010 and was released to the market on June 15th, 2010. I will try to introduce the Microsoft Office 2010 features and its benefit in my next paragraph.

With the advanced Microsoft Lync, you can now determine the availability of your friends, such as when co-authoring a document in Word or viewing your e-mails in Outlook.
So should you upgrade? Well, it’s all depends on your situation – if you are still running Office 2003, I would really recommend you to move on to the Office 2010 as there are uncountable improvements and the efficiency speed in dealing the tasks are more high. If you are running Office 2007, is true that they function very similarly, but if you are particular with very specific new features then the only accept is Office 2010 offers.
